Late Oba Adeyemi was a custodian of Yoruba rich heritage – Sowunmi

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorahip aspirant in Ogun State, Otunba Segun Sowunmi, has described the late Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, as a great custodian of Yoruba rich heritage.

Sowunmi in his tribute on the late monarch obtained by our correspondent in Abeokuta, said the demise of Oba Adeyemi has brought  “an abrupt end to 52 glorious years on the throne of Oyo Kingdom.”

The tribute reads thus, “Shall the ancestors not know that their gain is our loss, oh iku you have killedrab Alafin Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi and brought an abrupt end to 52 glorious years on the throne of Oyo kingdom.

“Who will speak your  type of original Yoruba language to us, who will interpret the drum beats,a custodian of our very rich heritage has become a deity. 

“Full of wisdom, such a consummate entertainer, fit as a fiddle, boxer, dancer, poet of the Yoruba genre, an Oba in every sense of the word. 

“Olayiwola omo Iku, omo arun, iku baba yeye, wo giri la giri omo ojo pa sekere mo le, san obe sun, fi apo rori,layiwola hu irun loju gun, penlebe hu irun latelese, baba ti yin lo wo fulani tin lo josi to ni tani erukeru fo judi,tani karambani fi ara e pe, ogbona bi elebun sopona, kai sopana o gbona elebun re lo gbona. 

“Oh death the curtain has drawn on such a colorful character, go well, the ancestors will receive you in warm Celestia embrace, Ladigbolu will be pleased , Adeyemi the first will be happy, ofiran baba Oranyan will be satisfied, elenpe, aole and others before you will initiate you into the cult of the Orishas. 

“Yoruba land bear witness that you tried, all Yoruba sons and daughters mourn you and wish that your creator Allah have mercy on you and forgive your shortcomings.”
