Some members of Igbore Community under the umbrella of Concerned lgbore Citizens in Abeokuta South Local Government have commended the authorities of Abeokuta South Local Government and the Nigerian Police for aborting violence that would have accompanied the installation of
Chief Wole Odekunle as Olori Aje Igbore on Tuesday 13 December, 2022 in lle-Ogboni, Igbore, Abeokuta.
The concerned citizens in a letter obtained by News Contact Online and signed by Awaye Olusegun Adefunso and Alhaji Suleiman Kazeem, Chairman and Secretary respectively, noted that the Oluwo of Igbore Chief Anthony Oliyide, despite a letter written by Abeokuta South Local Government, attempted to install Chief Oluwole Odekunle as Olori Aje Igbore.
They explain that the matter is still a subject of litigation in the Appeal Court Holden in Ibadan on Suit No.: CA/IB/93/2022″‘, and another case suit No.: AB/455/2022 in Ogun State High Court Holden in Abeokuta.
The group pointed out that the Oluwo Igbore is very much aware that whosoever is the Olori Aje lgbore is automatically the Olori Parakoyi Egba in line with the customs and traditions of lgbore and Egbaland and insists in causing confusion in the town.
It further pointed out that the Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government had written to Oluwo Igbore asking him to “kindly adhere strictly to the directive” against the installation of the title, “in the interest of obedience to the rule of law and for peaceful co-existence of all the good people of lgbore township and Ogun State in general”.
The Igbore citizens hereby urge the people of the community to remain peaceful and calm since the installation has been prevented by the good people of Igbore and the Nigerian Police. The group urge Oluwo Igboręto respect the rule of law and of course the customs and traditions of lgbore township.
