Ogun 2023: Omooba Dapo Abiodun (ODA), A PROMISE KEEPER, IS GOOD TO RETURN
By Segun Adeleye
One of the cardinal beauties of journalism as a trade is the compulsion to observe the FOBAC’s principle at all times when coming to the public space to vent any issue for that matter. This is crucial if a practitioner wants to enjoy across-the-strata readership and patronage. By FOBAC, we are thought that while delivering your 5Ws and H, which is the ingredient that gives you the complete news, you must be fair, balance, accurate and complete. The quest to achieve this has made this write up on Ilaro-Owode, or vice versa a must do. Our people have a saying that there is always a right of reply, otherwise you won’t have communication but information. Etí to bá gbò àlo, o gbọ́dọ̀ gbó àbò.
On September 18, 2014 and October 31, 2021, a difference of 7 years thereabout, I had done two descriptive narrative of the worrisome, killing, condemnable, deplorable State of the State of Ilaro-Owode road. The former can be sourced from Daily Independent of that scourching era while the latter can be unclouded. It came on this page.
This inglorious years were the period motorcycles was introduced through the survival instinct of the people to transport goods and services between this two important towns in Ogun West in Ogun State.
It was an era marked by sheer neglect, supposedly ocassioned by hatred for the people of the area by the FILA-DEPHIA helmsman of that Pharaonic government between 2019 and 2011, notwithstanding and not minding how the couple of political icons of that area, who were friends and party men and women of the then Generalisimo would feel.
But the narrative changed and the people are rejoicing because the righteous took over the reign of governance. Yes, the incumbent is righteous not to have made issues out of the poor handling of the road because if it were that crude and rude era, finger-pointing and name calling would have stucked the project till now. If in doubt, check the power plant initiated and inaugurated by former Governor Gbenga Daniel. Scores of puerile reasons why it cannot be revisited for activation by OGD’s successor, no reason why the one met on ground in 2011 was up and functioning!.
But thank God, the Ogun State Governor, Omooba Dapo Abiodun moved in and the people are rejoicing. Replaced the snailly, inefficient former handler with CCECC. And the job is fast nearing completion.
This is my travelogue on Saturday, January 14 when I went home to collect my transfered PVC in readiness for the ALL- IMPORTANT election we hope to have, which hopefully will usher in a restructured Nigeria for her glory to grow. Having earlier written that whosoever fixed the road, amongst others like it in the Ogun West axis as being done in the other two senatorial districts of East and Central, will be my hero, I herewith declare Omooba Dapo Abiodun, mfr, my hero, having return hope and life to that region through his eclectic interventions here and there, particularly the Ilaro-Owode road.
I therefore, also hasten to declare, with excitement, that OMOOBA DAPO ABIODUN (ODA) is ODARA (good) to return. Good as ODA is, he cannot function optimally without his full team, let PDA be LED at the Presidency by the ASIWAJU himself, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shetima as President and Vice-President, respectively. Let ODA become better than Good by voting AREMO YEWALAND AND GBOBANIYI OF ILARO, Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola, FCA, FCIT, FFPI as Senator for Ogun West. Please permit me to sound a note of caution to the users of the road to watch out for the speed breakers on the road, especially the Iwoye township stretch sọ that we don’t solve a problem to create yet another. Bon voyage AS WE RE-ELECT OMOOBA DAPO ABIODUN FOR YET ANOTHER GLORIOUS TERM.
Happy commuting as we crave attention from various interventions at various levels of government on the: Ilobi-Erinja-Oke-Erinja; Isaga-Ago Baba-Alagbon bye pass amongst others to hasten rapid development in the area. The Alagbon-Ifako road is no less important too. Ire o.
