Gbagede Ewaede Foundation distributes 1000 sanitary pads with secondary schools students in Abeokuta

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Gbagede Ewaede Foundation, has distributed about 1000 sanitary pads with secondary school students in Abeokuta.

The programme tagged “Pad My Paadi” was held on Tuesday, to mark this year’s Valentine’s Day, with the objective of promoting menstrual hygiene among female students

The Convener, Princess Adejoke Somoye, said the distribution of the all essential materials for female students was aimed at supporting girls that have attained puberty age.

She promised that the Foundation, in no distant time, will be sharing millions of sanitary pads with females secondary school students across the country.

Shomoye submitted that sanitary pads ought to have been made free for young girls.

The Convener said, “Our culture constantly reminds us of how much we need each other, ènìyàn bo ni lára ju aṣọ lọ. 

“As the Convener of the Gbagede Ewaede Foundation, it is our mission to preserve and propagate the rich heritage of the Yoruba culture. In line with this objective, we have devised the :”PAD MY PADDI” initiative to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

“The primary focus of “PAD MY PADDI” is to distribute 1,000 units of sanitary pads to secondary schools within the Abeokuta metropolis. 

“We recognize the importance of menstrual hygiene management in ensuring the well-being and dignity of young girls, especially in educational environ. By providing these essential hygiene products, we aim to support female students and contribute to their overall health and academic benefits.

“I have always believed that sanitary pads should be free, especially for young girls, welcoming them to puberty with so much love, care and affection, hence, kick starting my believe with a thousand FREE sanitary pads for secondary school girls.

“Doing this today in Abẹ́òkúta is definitely a starting point, it is my wish that in a few years to come, I’ll  be donating a million FREE sanitary pads to my paddi(s) across Nigeria.

“This is one of our love languages, the louder we speak, the better the world becomes.”
