The Ogun State Government has swiftly responded to the rising security concerns at the Sagamu Interchange, as raised by a disturbed Nigerian, recently.
The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun,on his Facebook page stated that Amotekun operatives and officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), on Wednesday, carried out operations under the bridge to address criminal activities in the area.
Abiodun said, “The government acknowledges the disturbing reports of violent attacks on innocent citizens and assures residents that decisive measures are being taken to restore safety. The security agencies have been mobilized to increase surveillance and crack down on criminal elements operating in the vicinity.
“Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies. The Ogun State Government remains committed to ensuring the safety of all residents and travelers.”
Eyewitnesses reported a heavy presence of armed security personnel combing the area to News Contact Online in what appears to be a targeted operation. While authorities remain tight-lipped on the exact nature of the mission, sources suggest it may be connected to recent intelligence on criminal hideouts or illegal activities in the zone.
Amotekun’s involvement underscores the growing inter-agency collaboration in Southwest security operations. More details expected as the situation develops.
