Southeast educators conference 2026 to focus on teacher capacity, school leadership
Preparations have intensified for the 2026 edition of the South East Educators Conference, a regional gathering aimed at strengthening teacher capacity and enhancing school leadership across Nigeria’s South East.
The conference is scheduled to hold from April 15 to 16 in Awka, Anambra State, and is expected to attract school owners, teachers, policymakers, and education stakeholders from within and outside the region.
Convener of the initiative, Barr. Doris Chinedu-Okoro, said the forum was designed to address gaps in education systems by promoting professional development, collaboration, and innovation among educators.
She noted that the conference has evolved into a platform for engaging key issues affecting teaching and learning, particularly in a rapidly changing global environment.
The 2026 edition, themed “Igniting the Advantage: Schools, Systems, and Skills,” will focus on emerging trends and challenges in the education sector.
According to the organisers, discussions will centre on areas such as the integration of artificial intelligence in education, leadership development for school administrators, innovative teaching practices, global citizenship education, and strategies for building sustainable school systems.
The event will feature a lineup of speakers, including education experts, researchers, and school administrators, who are expected to share perspectives on improving learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness.
Organisers added that the conference will also include interactive sessions and networking opportunities aimed at fostering collaboration among participants.
Chinedu-Okoro emphasised the need for sustained investment in educators, noting that improving teaching standards remains critical to national development.
Stakeholders say growing participation in the conference reflects increasing interest in strengthening education systems in the South East, with expectations that this year’s edition will further deepen dialogue on reforms and innovation in the sector.
