Adebutu mourns passage of Ogun monarch, Oba Olaniyan

The 2027 gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, has expressed deep sadness over the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Yisa Olusola Adeniyi Olaniyan (Orijajogun I), the 46th Onipokia of Ipokia, describing his demise as a great loss to Ipokia, Ogun West, Ogun State, and the traditional institution.
In a statement released by his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, Adebutu described the late monarch as a revered royal father whose reign was marked by wisdom, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the peace, unity, and development of Ipokia Kingdom. He noted that Oba Olaniyan devoted his life to preserving the rich cultural heritage of his people while fostering harmony and progress across the community.
The PDP governorship candidate stated that throughout his reign, the late Onipokia remained a symbol of dignity, selfless leadership, and fatherly guidance. His ability to bring people together, promote peaceful coexistence, and offer wise counsel earned him the respect of his subjects, colleagues in the traditional institution, and leaders across Ogun State.
Adebutu noted that the monarch’s legacy will continue to live on through the enduring values of service, integrity, and unity that he championed. “His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Yisa Olusola Adeniyi Olaniyan was an exceptional custodian of our culture and traditions whose leadership brought honour and pride to Ipokia Kingdom,” he said. “His passing leaves a vacuum that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
While commiserating with the royal family, the chiefs and people of Ipokia Kingdom, as well as the government and people of Ogun State, Adebutu prayed for the peaceful repose of the monarch’s soul and asked God to grant strength and comfort to everyone mourning this great loss.
