The lawmaker representing Ipokia/Idiroko State Constituency, Otunba Bisi Oyedele, has sought the support of religious leaders in the area for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oyedele made the appeal during a town hall meeting with members of the League of Imams and Alfas and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ipokia Local Government Area.
The meeting, according to the lawmaker, in a statement obtained by News Contact Online formed part of his ongoing consultations with critical stakeholders across the constituency, with discussions centred on community development, peaceful coexistence, unity and the collective aspirations of residents.
While presenting his scorecard for the past three and a half years, Oyedele highlighted what he described as some of his interventions in education, healthcare, water supply and employment.
He said his efforts had facilitated the construction of a block of three classrooms at Ipokia Local Government School, Idiroko, as well as another three-classroom block at Ipokia Local Government School, Ijofin.
According to him, two other schools had also benefited from his interventions, including a block of three classrooms, five toilets and office space at Area Community High School, Madoga, and another block of three classrooms, five toilets and office space at Gbenopo High School, Maun Ward II.
Oyedele said the projects had brought the total number of schools where he had facilitated interventions to four within three and a half years.
He also disclosed that eight boreholes had been provided across different communities in the constituency through his intervention.
On healthcare, the lawmaker said he facilitated the revamping of the deteriorated Iporan Health Centre and secured modern equipment for the facility, alongside interventions at the Idosemo Maternity Centre.
Oyedele further disclosed that 25 indigent members of the constituency had benefited from employment opportunities through both federal and state programmes, including the ISE CITI scheme.
He urged the religious leaders to continue to play their roles in promoting peace, unity and development, stressing the importance of sustained engagement between elected representatives and community stakeholders.
The lawmaker said the town hall meeting also provided an opportunity to keep the religious leaders abreast of his activities and seek their support for APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
The religious leaders, according to Oyedele, expressed satisfaction with the achievements recorded within the period and declared their support for him and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Oyedele reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining regular consultations with religious and community leaders, noting that their participation was essential to promoting understanding, inclusiveness and sustainable development in Ipokia/Idiroko State Constituency.
