Prince Sheuquadri Taiwo Adenaike, 51, has emerged as the Alaperu-Elect of Iperu Remo in Ogun State, following the demise of the town’s late monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu Basibo.

Prince Adenaike emerged from the Fibigbuwa Ruling House, marking a significant development in the traditional succession history of the ancient Remo town and raising hopes for continuity in the preservation of its cultural heritage and traditional institutions.

His emergence, barely 20 months after the passing of the late monarch, ushers in a new chapter in the history of the Alaperu stool, which remains a symbol of the identity, unity and heritage of the people of Iperu Remo.

The Alaperu-Elect hails from the distinguished Adenaike Ogunbona family of Iperu Remo. He is the son of Prince Raji Sofowora Adenaike Ogunbona, popularly known as Igbonrokiji I, and is linked to the community’s rich traditional heritage.

His emergence from the Fibigbuwa Ruling House places him within the established succession history of the community, where traditional rulership continues to play an important role in preserving customs, promoting communal identity and sustaining cultural values.

Adenaike, has a professional background spanning social work, studies in mental health nursing and property management.

He is the Chief Executive Officer of St. Adenaike Home & Properties Limited.

His professional interests in social work and mental health nursing reflect a connection to human welfare and community wellbeing, while his involvement in property management adds to his professional experience.

As he prepares for the responsibilities associated with the revered Alaperu stool, expectations will centre on his ability to foster peace, strengthen unity among the people and contribute to the continued development of Iperu Remo and its surrounding communities.

Among the key priorities expected to shape his anticipated reign are the preservation of the town’s cultural heritage, the promotion of peaceful coexistence among traditional institutions and community stakeholders, and support for initiatives that improve education, social welfare and economic opportunities.

Youth empowerment is also expected to remain an important consideration, particularly through efforts that encourage education, entrepreneurship, responsible citizenship and productive participation in community development.

The transition following the demise of Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu Basibo underscored the enduring significance of traditional institutions in maintaining continuity between generations and providing a platform for preserving communal values.

For Iperu Remo, the emergence of a new Alaperu-Elect presents an opportunity to look towards the future while honouring the legacy of the departed monarch and respecting the customs and traditions of the people.

As the community anticipates the next phase in the history of the Alaperu stool, the priorities of peace, unity, cultural preservation and inclusive development are likely to remain central to the aspirations of its residents.

The emergence of Prince Sheuquadri Taiwo Adenaike therefore represents an important moment for Iperu Remo as the town looks towards a future anchored in its traditional heritage and the collective wellbeing of its people.
