Stop spewing sentiments, Adeola's membership not in doubt – Ogun West APC chairmen
By Funmi Bewaji
Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ogun West, on Thursday, said that the membership of Senator Solomon Adeola in the district is not in doubt, having transfered his membership card to Ilaro Ward 1 in Yewa South Local Government.
The APC chairmen, in a statement made available to News Contact Online, insisted that Adeola popularly known as Yayi, is a bonafide member of the party, and that he is entitled to all rights and privileges of a member which include contesting for elective position he so desires as guaranteed by the Constitution of the party and Nigeria.
The statement was Alhaji Azeez Mohammed (APC Ogun West Senatorial Chairman); Elder Lai Oguntade (Senatorial Secretary); Hon. J. J. Akeran (Chairman, APC Ado-Odo/Ota LGA); Hon. Segun Olalotan (Chairman, APC, Imeko Afon LG); Hon. Taiwo Wepetoji (Chairman, APC, Ipokia LG);
Chief Kunle Adeosun (Chairman, APC Yewa North LG) and Alhaji Adenle
Chairman (APC, Yewa South).
“Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola having transfered his APC membership to Ilaro Ward 1 in Yewa South local government of Ogun is a bonafide member of the APC in Ogun West who is entitled to all rights and privileges of a member including contesting for any position he so desires as guaranteed by the constitution of the APC and that of Nigeria.
“We believe that any progressive minded and patriotic member of the party who disputes the right of any other member to any privileges should approach the leadership of the party or a court of law rather than spewing sentiments and attempting to blackmail the party with unfounded allegations,” the statement said
They were reacting to an unsigned communique issued by a “Committee of Concerned Ogun West Patriots” under the umbrella of “Ogun West Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders” in the All Progressives Congress.
The chairmen and senatorial secretary said the party would not succumbed to blackmail under any guise, submitting that the party in the district is not enmeshed in any form of crisis, as painted by the so-called Committee of Concerned Ogun West Patriots.
The statement reads further, “The APC in Ogun West is resolute and will not be blackmailed by any aspirant(s) to exclude another. The process for the determination of the party’s candidates including for the Senatorial seat are clearly stated in the guidelines of the APC and will be strictly followed.
” The majority of our members through the primary election will determine their candidates and not an unpatriotic, anti APC and desperate committee that is unknown to the party.
” We therefore call on this misguided individuals who now parade themselves as ‘patriotic’ Yewa -Awori indigenes and “conscience of our people”, to desist from placing their selfish pursuit and personal interest above the larger community interest as they have being doing over the years and allow the wish of the majority of APC members in Ogun West and indeed Ogun West indigenes to prevail.
“We call on the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party to ignore the political tantrums of these elements who want to infect our progressive party with their old undemocratic and archaic system that has yielded little dividends to the party and Ogun West.”
